California State Fair Commercial Craft Brewing Competition

The Commercial Craft Brewing Competition was developed by J.J.Jackson for the California State Fair in 1995 after gathering input from select brewers active in the California Commercial Craft Brewing Community. It is unique in that combines the American (1st, 2nd 3rd Place) and Danish Awards systems (Gold, Silver and Bronze Certificates by score), which is the result of the initial survey of brewers. It is a double blind competition conforming to the guidelines of and sanctioned by the Beer Judge Certification Program. The competition is open only to Commercial Breweries in the state of California for brews made in California. We have as stated Aims & Objectives:

“AIMS and OBJECTIVES
1. Offer the commercial craft brewers of California a venue by which their product may be evaluated by qualified judges and peer commercial craft brewers.
2. Encourage brewing in California and improve the knowledge of the art and science of brewing.
3. To provide the California public information about beer, beer styles and the art and science of brewing.
4. Enrich the reputation of California as a major contributor to the resurgence of craft brewing.
5. Acknowledge the prowess of California’s commercial brewers who produce superior beers.(Source: CSF 2010 CCBC Handbook).”
